Review: Living Social - 7-Piece Comforter Set by Lavish Home

This bedding is of extremely poor quality, not worth the price at all.  The patterned section on the quilt is much narrower than the picture depicts and the fabric is very thin and cheap.  The bed ruffle middle fabric section is akin to paper.  The 'shams' are not any more than a standard pillow case.

The quilt cannot be dry cleaned either.  I have a big washer, but cannot thoroughly wash a queen sized comforter in mine and besides, this quilt looks like it will fall apart at the first wash.  I always have my quilts dry clean.

I am returning mine, despite the $7.99 'handling' fee.  I would rather pay that to return it, than have to live with this.

Living Social Coupon

Did you know there are coupon codes to use when making a Living Social purchase?  I successfully used MELT20 on my recent purchase for a 20% discount!  This took care of the shipping expense.  :)  So despite Living Social offering items for sale at a discounted price, there are coupon codes for an extra discount.  Do make use of this.  Just search for 'living social coupon codes' in your favorite search engine and enter the code when prompted.

Happy shopping!

Dinosaurs in motion - North Carolina Museum of Natural Science

Dinosaurs in motion was an interesting and fun exhibit, albeit expensive and short of duration. My family found the quotes by John  Payne and the facts interesting.  The interactive part of the display was fun and engaging, although younger children may find it difficult to manipulate the sculptures.  The exhibit is made up of 14 metal dinosaur skeletons with artist's illustrations of what the animal may have looked like.  Despite us taking our time, reading the interesting facts and even going back to double check on the geographic location of where the animals roamed, we completed the entire exhibit in 35 minutes.  At the end of the exhibit, there is a play area with interesting toys which entertained our 9 year old daughter for a while.

Pros:  educational, interesting, interactive.
Cons:  expensive considering the limited number of exhibits.  I would not recommend it for families with kids who cannot read.

Dinosaurs in Motion runs through September 8, 2013 10am -  5pm Monday through Saturday, and 12pm to 5pm on Sundays with the last entry at 4pm.
Adults enjoy $2 off on Thursday and  First Fridays with extended hours - last entry at 7 p.m.
Tickets: Adults $10, kids ages 3 -12 $6, students, seniors 65+ and military members $8.

Second chance on group coupons

I recently blogged about Groupon.com and Livingsocial.com, where one can get great deals on local businesses. It seems some of us get carried away by buying too many deals, buy deals without reading the fineprint, or forget to use deals and then don't have time to use the coupons. If you're suffering from buyers remorse for any reason, there are sites like couprecoup.com and dealsgoround.com where you can resell your coupon. The site takes a percentage of course, so while you recover some money, you do lose some.

Of course, on the flip side, if you've taken too long to buy a deal or just want to find a deal on the spur of the moment, you can check these sites to see if it's available.

Remember, tomorrow morning, it's free Chick-fil-A breakfast again as well as $1 scoop at Baskin Robbins tomorrow evening.

Spend wisely!
