You could save quite a bit in the laundry room, up to $250 per year! How?
1. Wash clothes in cold or warm water: Washing in cold water will also prevent fading. Heavily soiled clothes or dish towels may need hot water.
2. Even when washing with hot water, always rinse in cold water. There is no benefit to rinsing in warm or hot water and it wastes energy anyway.
3. Dry clothes for the minimum amount of time to get them dry. If your dryer has a moisture sensor, use it as it will sense when the clothes are dry and may even go through a "cool down" cycle.
4. Don't overfill the washing machine or tumble dryer, but at the same time, don't wash a few items on large or super settings. This wastes, water, detergent and energy!
5. Use coupons for your laundry detergent and buy in bulk. You can stock up on detergent when on sale. Pairing a sale price with a coupon is a double saving. Also, the bigger the container, the cheaper the unit price. Detergent stores well! :)
